Time To Pay Up

Spread the love

Ecclesiastes 5 vs. 4 (NLT)
When you make a promise to God, don’t delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools.  Keep all the promises you make to him.

Remember that time you were in trouble, you had no one to help you, no resources, no place to go, no options, and with no other help to be found you lifted your head to heaven and asked God to help you, not only did you ask for his help you attached a promise to it.

You did this because the thing you needed was crucial to you, you did not have to put collateral on it, because in the words of God, he needs nothing from us, if he were hungry he would not tell us. You could have asked, and received, but you wanted to make sure that the request you made was heard and accomplished with great speed.

Remember how you felt when that thing that you pleaded for with God was done, the feeling of relief and joy that accompanied that moment. Even though many years have passed since that great victorious day, and you can still recall it as if it were yesterday.

Today I want to remind you of the other half of that victory, and that was the promise you made to God to achieve it.  Words are powerful, and commitments are binding, and even though we know that God is all-powerful and needs nothing from us if you have made a promise to him then, let this serves as a gentle reminder that it is time to take seriously the words that have come out of your mouth.  Just as you have taught your children that your word is your bond, may you take seriously the lessons you have taught then by fulfilling a few of your own. It’s time to pay up.
