The Gift

Spread the love

Matthew 2:11 (NKJV)

And when they had come into the house, they saw the young Child with Mary, His mother, and fell and worshiped Him.  And when they had opened their treasures, they presented gifts to Him: gold, frankincense, and myrrh.

These wise men came from a great distance, after having studied for years and making great sacrifices, they had rightly followed the star to where they had found the savior of the world. When they had seen the Christ, they bowed down and worshiped him.  To worship something means to make it the focal point of your life, to honor, respect and give great devotion too. In return, that which you worship should offer great benefits, not just in the next life but the life you live now.

The question for you today is what is it that you worship? Also, what gifts have you offered that which you worship?  Have you bowed down to your appetite, and submit your most significant contribution of good health?  Have you devoted yourself to some awful lifestyle and offered to it, your peace of mind, your joy, your feeling of accomplishment?  Do you show your habits more honor and respect than you do your very own life or the lives of those you love?

Myrrh is a fragrant gum-like resin, and it comes from a small bushy tree, it can be used raw, crushed or mixed with oil to make a perfume.  It has many healing remedies.

  1. Myrrh stops pain and reduces swelling.
  2. Myrrh is a stress reliever.
  3. Myrrh helps reduce blood pressure.
  4. Myrrh helps open nasal passages to help with breathing.
  5. Myrrh helps boost the body’s immune defense to stop illnesses.

Frankincense is an expensive substance that in ancient times was a time-consuming process to gather.

  1. It relieves pain
  2. Boost immune function
  3. Treats dry skin
  4. Improves the heart rate.

As you take inventory of your life, and the things that you have chosen to devote and honor with an offering of your greatest gifts, may your choice be the God of all heaven, who in exchange gives great joy and peace.
