Spread the love

Philippians 4 vs. 6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

Are you always stressed and frustrated? Is “worry” your middle name?

While some events in life create times of great chaos, it is natural to respond to these events with stress and worry, but if you find that it is beginning to take over your mind and you have no control over it, then it might be time to talk to your Doctor.

While it is understood that there are somethings that we have no control over, would it surprise you to know that there are some foods that increase the feeling of anxiety and depression? By avoiding certain foods, we can have better success in our quest to reduce the adverse reactions we may have to stress.

  • Sugar: While it gives a sudden boost of energy, what goes up must come down, and a drop-in fuel can leave you feeling jittery, which can exacerbate your anxiety.
  • Aspartame: This is an artificial sweetener that can be found in many sugar-free beverages, it can block the production of serotonin which is a valuable neurotransmitter that fights depression.
  • Caffeine: Psychologist have given caffeine its diagnosis code; there are caffeine-induced anxiety and caffeine-induced sleep disorders. This drug which is found in many beverages and small little bottles that help you stay alert, can make your heart pound and your palms sweaty. This can mimic the feeling of anxiety.
  • Fruit juices: These juices are packed with sugar but lack the fiber that real fruit has which is needed to help the body absorb the sugar in a balanced way, these sugar spikes can trigger a feeling of anxiety.

The world we live in is fast-moving with ever-changing stimuli and other factors that can work against you as you try to find balance in your life. Take time to notice what your body is trying to tell you. Is it possible that your feelings of anxiety, stress or depression, are not because you are in a room full of people, but could it be the 2 cups of whatever it is that you drank or the bowl of what you ate before you got to the room full of people that are driving it?
