I Got The Fever

Spread the love

Matthew 8 vs.14 (NIV)
When Jesus entered came into Peter’s house, he saw Peter’s mother-in-law lying in bed with a fever.

Fever is when the temperature of your body goes higher than normal, that normal being 98.6. Your hypothalamus, which is located in the center of the brain, is the controlling mechanism of your body’s temperature. This gland sends out commands to your heart, liver, skin, sweat glands, muscles, and a host of other organs to keep your body temperature within a safe and reasonable limit.

When the body is infected with a disease or some pathogen, it will enlist millions of fighting cells to work and defeat that which has attacked the body, when this occurs the body’s metabolism will begin to rise, which in turn causes your temperature to rise. When your body can defeat the pathogen that attacked it, such as a bacterial infection or some type of viral infection such as the flu, you will see a return of your temperature to normal.

Included below are some natural remedies to reduce a fever should sickness overtake your body.

Fever Bath
Sitting in a tub of water that is about two degrees lower than average body temperature and than slowly adding colder water. After about twenty minutes, dry off completely and rest. This will lower your fever slowly and safely; this can be repeated if necessary.

Herbal teas
Yarrow, peppermint, elderflower are all teas that help the body sweat, which in turn helps the body reduce the fever.

Apple cider vinegar
Using a towel soaked in vinegar as a compress to the head and other areas of the body help reduce fever.

Turmeric
Because it contains curcumin adding this spice to some warm water helps fight the microorganisms that are causing the fever.

Garlic
This is a tried and true species, related to the onion family, that fights a fever by way of its antiseptic and antiparasitic qualities.

While most fevers are the body’s simple way of telling you something is wrong, if your fever should persist, a visit to your doctor may be in order.
