I Don’t Know

Spread the love

Proverbs 21vs.16 (KJV)
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

There is a saying that most of us were taught in middle school civics class, and that is ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law, as a citizen of the United States. You must remain knowledgeable about laws that govern; this will prevent you from paying the consequences that often come with ignorance.  While many of us have paid for our ignorance with a speeding ticket in an unfamiliar area or a parking ticket, or a building violation, we quickly realize that the words “I didn’t know” are not enough.

While money can be replaced, there is something more costly to us if we do not take the time to understand its principles, and that is when it concerns our health.  Too often, we trust the most valuable thing we have to others and live a willful ignorance to the consequences and repercussions that come when we are not diligent and intentional about our health.

Often we suffer greatly and unnecessarily because we lack the patience or the curiosity to investigate all the options that may be available to us, as we navigate through an illness. Are you checking your blood sugar every day, or did you find out it was way too high or low when you woke up in a hospital bed, with worried family members around you? Are you taking your high blood pressure seriously, or are you waiting for a heart attack or stroke to occur before you stand up and take notice?

Being knowledgeable about your illnesses and how to manage them is a mighty instrument to guard against the unnecessary inconveniences that come with ignorance, it will also ward off an unexpected trip to the undertaker unless you are just bored and have nothing else to do.
