Get Out

Spread the love

Genesis 12:1(CSB)
The LORD said to Abram: Go out from your land, your relatives, and your father’s house to the land that I will show you
.

Have you ever had a weird dream? I remember mine vividly; I was sitting inside of my house with my family, we were eating dinner and enjoying ourselves, but the problem was that I could clearly see a fire surrounding us and they could not. If any of you have ever tried to run while you are dreaming, then you probably know that it’s like slow motion, and most of the time, you can’t scream. So, there I was, taking forever to warn them, and when I finally did, they could not hear me because my mouth would not move. Trying to speak those two little words, get out, felt like an eternity. I finally woke up and in my conscious state, replayed the dream in my head, and gave it the desired outcome. I don’t know about you, but I never let a nightmare have the last word.

Abraham came from a family of idol worshippers. As a result, his family lived under the false pretenses that the security of their family, land, health, and wealth was established and secured by tin and wood shaped into some object they thought worthy of their deference. Many of us have entrusted the things that are most valuable to objects that are not even real. A false sense of security is not security at all; it’s like living in a house that’s on fire, and safety is in getting out, not staying in. There are some things that you need to do in order to secure your surroundings. Maybe you need to get out of the unhealthy lifestyle that you are in, or get out of the job that keeps your blood pressure near stroke value, or get out of an abusive relationship; often it’s hard because you don’t know what life will look like once you are out. Leaving what you have always known will not be easy, but the place where you are going holds much greater promise, and greater fulfillment in life, may God give you the courage to get out.
