Finish It

Spread the love

Proverbs 24:27 NASB

Prepare your work outside and make it ready for yourself in the field; afterwards, then, build your house.

I remember talking to a friend of mine as she told me about when she landed her first job, forty years ago. She remembered the excitement of working at a pizza place, and learning that it takes a lot of hard work and preparation for any restaurant to be successful. She told me that before any pizza can be made, someone has to arrive early in the morning and make the pizza dough. Then, it has to be cut into individual sizes to fit into the small, medium, or large boxes. She further added that someone has to unload the truck that comes in every few days with supplies, someone has to fold the boxes that the pizza goes in, and someone has to cut up all the vegetables that go on the pizza. We agreed that producing the finished product the customer takes out the door is a huge undertaking.

Do you want some good things for your life, but every day you get up frustrated about your lack of progress? Are you tired of being alone, but you don’t like people? Are you unhappy with some of the things that are going on with your body, but you’re slow to make any healthy changes? Are you bored, but you refuse to try new things? Do you have a dream, but every time you have an opportunity to achieve it you allow your fears to set in? Or worse, do you walk away from it because you don’t like the process that it would take to accomplish it?

Most of us love a good pizza, but not many of us want to make the dough, prepare the sauce, and cut up the vegetables. Sometimes the best things in life come from the hard work and sacrifices we are willing to make. May you have the courage to not just dream, but to put in the work to accomplish the finished product.
